History: Beginning as bookmobile service in 1961, the Putnam County Library has grown to include a main library in Teays Valley, established in 1975, followed by branch libraries in Eleanor in 1978, Poca in 1980, Buffalo in 1984 and Hurricane in 1989. The library system now serves more than 55,000 residents in Putnam County.
